The Pacific model has been coupled to the CSU GCM (popularly known as BUGS) by Don Dazlich. The horizontal resolution is presently 1/2 x 1/2 deg, but otherwise the ocean model is as described in the Pacific Ocean Model.
The ocean model was not spun up prior to coupling, but simply
initialized assuming geostrophic balance off the equator.
As a consequence, we generated a major El Nino during the first year
of integration.
