- Modeling and analysis of ocean-atmosphere coupled phenomena including ENSO, recently discovered IOD and DICEs.
- Simulation of variability in the Pacific Ocean using a high-resolution ocean general circulation model for GOOS (Global Ocean Observing System)and PBECS (Pacific Basin-wide Climate Study)/CLIVAR (Study of Climate variability and Predictability).
- Simulation of the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean.
- Simulation of the Indonesian Throughflow.
- Modeling of nonlinear planetary vortices in geophysical fluids.
