Atlantic Ocean


This model is being set up and used by Hugo Pelaez, University of Puerto Rico. It is a 2.5 layer reduced gravity model with prognostic T and S Average thickness of the active layers are 100 m and 200 m.

The horizontal resolution is 1/2 by 1/2 deg and the model domain covers the area from 16 S to 45 N. Monthly wind stress from Hellerman and Rosenstein (1984) is used to force the model.

The colors show the upper layer thickness anomaly (in m) and the vectors the upper layer current after 2 years of integration.
